About
Founder: TJ Carter
TJ is a people-first leader who believes that workplaces thrive when trust, collaboration, and confidence take center stage. With over a decade of experience in people leadership and organizational culture, he has helped teams at universities, nonprofits, and startups build stronger, more connected communities.
Outside of HR, TJ has spent 16+ years performing and teaching improv comedy — a practice that has shaped his unique approach to leadership. Blending these two worlds, he created Prescriptive Play: a consulting practice that uses play as medicine to help organizations unlock creativity, strengthen relationships, and navigate challenges with resilience.
An award-winning facilitator and coach, TJ has led workshops on everything from conflict resolution and bias response to suicide prevention training and leadership development. Whether running a staff retreat, coaching executives, or leading a room full of people through improv games, he brings humor, empathy, and clarity to every space he enters.
When he’s not helping teams transform through play, you’ll likely find him on stage, on the frisbee field, or diving into his latest passion project — always chasing the joy that comes from connection.
